A 4 car dmu (one Met-Camm and three BRC&W vehicles) heads towards Sheffield, past Ecclesfield West signal box on the former Midland Railway Barnsley line around 1965. The line to the right is the former Great Central railway through Ecclesfield East. The station building can be seen to the right of the signals, further right is the scrapyard of W E Smith where a number of steam locomotives were cut up. Paul Braybrook.
A Sheffield Midland to Huddersfield train passes through Wadsley Bridge station on 16 September 1978 formed of a Class 114 DMU. At this time this service was routed via the former GC line through Sheffield Victoria to Penistone. Wadsley Bridge station closed to regular traffic on 15 June 1959, however it remained in use for football specials for matches at Hillsborough with some service trains also calling on match days. An almost derelict scene at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 25 September 1975 as a 2 car diesel unit awaits it's return to Llandudno Junction. Some 7 years later in May 1982, the Ffestiniog Railway opened their extension to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The station has received a much needed facelift. Paul Braybrook.
