101 DMU

The former NER Whitby Town station, with two Metro-Camm Class 101 dmu's - a 4-car unit on the left waiting to depart for Middlesbrough and on the right a 2-car unit having just arrived from Darlington via Middlesbrough, 03/76. Hugh Llewelyn.

Saltburn station, built by the Stockton and Darlington Railway (later North Eastern Railway) 1861-62, architect William Peachey, 03/76. The main platform is on the left; in 1863 it was extended into the North Eastern's Zetland Hotel at the rear of the station platforms. On the extreme left and to the right of the church is the excursion station of 1870. On the right can be seen the side of the frontage of the main station building, built at right angles to the platform. The Class 101 Metro-Cammell dmu is bound for Darlington. Hugh Llewelyn.

On the afternoon of the 23rd July 1986 a 3 car Class 101 unit sits in Glasgow Queen Street Station awaiting it’s next turn of duty. DMBS SC51467 leads the formation followed by TCL SC59554 with DMCL SC51532 bringing up the rear. It’s very quiet on the Platforms but with the clock above the leading cab showing just after 3pm I’m sure that won’t last very long. The rear 2 vehicles were scrapped by Vic Berry, Leicester SC59554 in October 1988, and SC51532 in July 1990, while the leading car SC51467 met it’s end at Snailwell during September 1990.
