100 DMU

This is Lincoln Central in May 1987, with the ER Inspection Saloon stabled in the bay. This is a Gloucester unit, nos. TDB975349 and 975539. Behind is 31 411. Andrew Walker.

101 DMU

Barnsley station in October 1984. A Huddersfield service draws into the platform, where the parcels trolleys look to be taking up as much space as the passengers. Nothing wrong with that though. Andrew Walker.

105 DMU

One of Tinsley's Class 08s is glimpsed between two DMUs (105 and 114) while shunting parcels stock at Sheffield station in 1984. Andrew Walker.

114 DMU

This is Barnsley station in April 1978, and on a rather damp and dismal afternoon a two-car Derby DMU departs on a Sheffield service which will have originated at Leeds. H Wills's coal depot, on the site of the former steam shed, closed soon after this. Andrew Walker.

105 DMU

The proper way to carry mail - on a train. A Cravens DMU waits to depart Doncaster on an evening working to Sheffield in 1984. The DMBS appears to be Lincoln allocated E51284. Andrew Walker.

120 DMU

These monumental wooden post semaphore signals stood guard over the northern approach to Royston Junction, on the former Midland main line section from Goose Hill Junction to Wath Road Junction. Seen from the adjacent road bridge, a Swindon three-car DMU approaches on what could be a route learning or inspection trip in May 1982. It will cross from up slow to up fast line just beyond the bridge. The down fast lines on the left were out of use at this time because of mining subsidence. Andrew Walker.

110 DMU

This was a tranquil sunlit evening at Cudworth in the early summer of 1982, and in this view I am looking south from the old station platform as a newly-refurbished BRCW dmu approaches at speed to disturb the peace on a Leeds service. It was unusual to see dmus on this route at that time so this one could well have been substituting for a loco-hauled diagram. Andrew Walker.

114 DMU

blue-pullman DMU

South Wales Pullman Cardiff General May 1973 by John Wiltshire. A rather tatty Pullman in the last weeks of service before scrapping. Peter Brabham Collecton.

105 DMU

Cravens two-car set 42 arrives at Yarmouth Vauxhall from Norwich in June 1980. Kevin Lane.

115 DMU

Neasden South Junction. The view on 9 June 1977; the class 115 DMU is working from High Wycombe to Marylebone, with 25312 waiting with tanks destined for Marylebone diesel depot. The signal box closed in 1989 and was rebuilt on the Great Central Railway at Ruddington. Kevin Lane.

E56458 and E50376 (set 34) at Norwich Station on March 25th 1979. Ian Charles.

104 DMU

This BRCW 2 car set has just arrived at Leeds City. If you have good eyesight you may be able to see LEEDS on the destination blind. Edgehillsignallman@Flickr.

117 DMU

A Pressed Steel DMU arriving and D7026 waiting to depart Paddington, circa mid-1960s. Edgehillsignallman@Flickr.

101 DMU

Last ever train from Woodside. Sunday 5th November 1967. I think the final Chester General to Woodside dep Chester at 2308 and arr at Woodside 2335. This info is from the April 1966 to March 1967 WTT. I don't suppose it changed much up to November. The ECS is leaving Woodside presumably for Mollington Street. If anyone else knows different please let me know. Edgehillsignallman@Flickr.

105 DMU

Manchester Victoria about 1967 with Cravens power-twin and 3 car BRCW unit arriving. The leading coach looks like M50784 which had AEC engine and standard gearbox. Good view of Victoria signal box as well. Edgehillsignallman@Flickr.

111 DMU

I was on holiday at Whitby in 1967 and took a trip down to Scarborough one day. I was surprised to see this Met-Camm unit with a full four character display. My previous sightings of them were either two character or none at all. The leading car is Neville Hill allocated NE51558, followed by two Met-Camm TSL or TCLs, one in revised lining, and a (blue square) Derby Lightweight. Another three or four-car is on the rear; the visible vehicles being Met-Camms. Edgehillsignallman@Flickr.
