New Year Eve 1988 sees a NSE class 108 DMU arriving at Ridgmont from Bedford. The Bedford Arms pub in the background, complete with a collection of car hub caps (!), closed in the mid-1990s and was later demolished. The station is actually in Husborne Crawley. A Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon (Class 119) DMU passes the little halt at Gogarth on Saturday 6 July 1968, working to Wolverhampton Low Level, presumably from Barmouth. With the trademark chimneys of the London Brick Company smoking in the background 56148 and 50391 are approaching their stop at Ridgmont on the Bletchley - Bedford line on 14/02/1981. Just by the chap walking onto the platform is the lever frame for the signals and crossing, this was moved here in 1934 as a staff economy measure and it allowed the signalman to open and shut the gates and attend to booking tickets, the instruments are inside the bay windowed booking hall. I quite often used to have an afternoon at Kings Sutton in the late 1980s and early 1990s when there was an impressive variety of different types of trains to photograph. This picture of NSE Class 101 L204 (51220 + 54371) was taken on 8 May 1989 (from the roadbridge with a 150mm lens) as the unit worked a peak hours Didcot to Banbury service. Peter Tandy.

This is a colour version of B & W shot image 24444 showing class 114 T026 (54010 + 53006) at Stratford-upon-Avon dated 11 January 1990 but after the staff member had moved away. The train is the 17:07 to Leamington. The colour of the sky hasn't been manipulated but is a consequence of the long exposure, 20 seconds at f5.6 on 100asa film, needed to get a well-exposed image in the days before very bright LED platform lights Peter Tandy.
Class 117 DMU T312 (51338 + 59504 + 51380) was working a Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon service on 19 June 1988 when I photographed it shortly after leaving Wilmcote station. This set wasn't at Tyseley for much longer after this date because class 150 Sprinters were beginning to appear in the West Midlands and "proper" DMUs were starting to be transferred elsewhere for their final year or two.
