The unique Midline class 121 single car 55033 was on the back of 3 car class 108 T902 (presumably 51566 + 59387 + 53933) leaving Stratford-upon-Avon on 16 May 1987. Class 108s were not commonplace here, especially those with a cab-mounted headlight and even less so working with a bubble unit in the consist. Image 20905 on here shows the train in platform 3 a few minutes earlier while waiting to form a train for Birmingham Moor Street. Peter Tandy.
Class 117 at Worcester Two for the price of one at Worcester Shrub Hill on 14 December 1984. An HST terminating service from London Paddington was about to pull out of the station to reverse for the returning up journey (the arm of the appropriate signal can just be glimpsed in the "off" position behind the footbridge) as class 117 B430 (51368 + 59520 + 51410) arrived from Birmingham New Street with a Hereford train. This unit will also reverse here and take the curve towards Foregate Street station. Peter Tandy.
Class 116 set TS624 (51143 + 59615 + 51130) was pictured leaving Stratford-upon-Avon for Birmingham Moor Street on the evening of 24 June 1986. The shot was from the window of Stratford-upon-Avon East signalbox, somewhere I visited most weeks once the weekly Special Traffic Notice had been delivered to have a check through in case anything decent was around the following week. There was something most weeks unlike in 2026! Peter Tandy.
It was getting on in the afternoon of 27 February 1986 when this 3 car class 110 worked through the remains of Manchester Exchange station towards Victoria with a Blackpool to York service. In the background is a 2 car class 108 coupled to a class 101. This area has been extensively redeveloped since then and even if such a shot were still possible I very much doubt that the backdrop would have any of the architectural interest so obvious in 1986. A Class 115 mixed-livery unit at Banbury on the morning of 4 May 1989. The unit had arrived from London Marylebone and had shunted out of the station and reversed over the crossover to the left of the lighting tower before running into the platform to pick up passengers and returning south again.
