One of the stylish and well-appointed Swindon Class 120 'Cross-Country' DMU's was stabled between duties in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on February 22nd 1986. The Newton Heath allocated three-car set was formed of cars M51575, M59581 & M51584 and had been transferred from the Western Region in 1982. Martyn Hilbert.
A three-car Swindon Class 120 DMU with Driving Motor Composite M53741 leading, was stood in the North facing bay at Stafford with a service to Derby on June 29th 1985. This was during the period when the Crewe Remodelling project was underway with no trains being able to use Crewe station. Martyn Hilbert.
Alongside refurbished Class 108's & Class 101's, a tidy-looking Class 101 Driving Motor Composite Lavatory (DMCL) M50334 (a three-car set formed of M50334/M59172/M50316) and based at Chester, was stabled inside the depot building at Llandudno Junction on May 26th 1979. Martyn Hilbert.
Redundant stock in storage at Enfield Road Carriage Sidings at Blackpool North on April 4th 1993. Alongside a row of redundant Network South East Class 305 EMU cars was a lengthy row of various stored DMU cars/sets. The nearest set was a two-car Class 108 formed of cars 51919 & 52048 (S940) that had been withdrawn from service in February 1993. S940 was eventually preserved on the Swanage Railway, then passed to the Barry Island Railway and is currently based on the Garw Valley Railway in South Wales. Martyn Hilbert.
