Class 108 DMU set B968 (presumably 54203 + 53620) takes the line to Bristol leaving Standish Junction at 14.15 on the 9th March 1990 working from Gloucester to Bristol Temple Meads. Dave Gommersall.
Class 108 DMU set S939 (presumably 51926 + 53631) has crossed over to platform 2 at Craven Arms Station at 13.18 on the 1st March 1990 working 2V39, the 12.52 Shrewsbury to Swansea. All workings using the Central Wales route needed to gain access to this line via platform 2. Dave Gommersall.
Class 108 DMU set S950 (presumably 53926 + 52061) leaves Craven Arms Station about 13.15 on the 1st March 1990 working the 09.48 Swansea to Crewe. In the distance S939 is arriving with the 12.52 Shrewsbury to Swansea, both via the Central Wales route. Notice the massive former shed on the left. I am informed during the Second World War many freights to and from South Wales used the Marshes route to avoid the heavily bombed Birmingham. Probably the depot was often well stocked with the locos during this period! Dave Gommersall.
Class 108 DMU set S943 arrives at Church Stretton Station just as 155 317 departs at about 09.25 on the 1st March 1990. The Derby set was going to Swansea via the Central Wales route, whilst the class 155 was on a Cardiff Central to Liverpool Liverpool Street working. There was almost 30 years difference in age between the 2 units. Dave Gommersall.
37263 waits a path through Worcester Tunnel Junction and north as Class 118 DMU set T317 (presumably 51329 + 59481 + 51314) arrives with a service from Birmingham. The time was about 14.15 on the 21st February 1990. Dave Gommersall.
Class 117 DMU set T311 (presumably 51376 + 59500 + 51334) stands in platform 3 at Derby Station at 11.45 on the 15th February 1990 with an unrecorded working. Dave Gommersall.
T014 (55034) arrives at Droitwich Spa at 12.30 on the 13th February 1990 working from Barnt Green to Worcester Foregate Street. Note the remains of the once rail connected coal yard, with just the resident shunter (known as the 'Sheriff'), bits of track and plenty of lifted sleepers remaining. Dave Gommersall.
Network SE liveried L423 (presumably 51399 + 59513 + 51361) leaves Banbury on the 5th February 1990 working the 12.40 Banbury to Oxford. Semaphores were still in use at Banbury in 1990!! Dave Gommersall.

The ER General Managers special train, with Wickham vehicles 975005 + 975006, standing at Biddick Lane level crossing on the Washington to Consett line circa 1972. Having been serviced and fuelled 2 three car sets are about to move onto the carriage sidings at Tyseley on 10/02/1985, the leading car is 53840. To the left is the mound of scrap indicating the rail connected business of Allan Rowland metals, today his board still faces Tyseley station although the yard has been closed for many years. The station is as it was before it was became faux GWR on it's last refurbishment when the platform gained ridiculous flower planters that nobody maintains and are a magnet for litter. The dark line in front of the train is a shadow of a lamp post, lengthy in the low winter sun. Geoff Dowling.
A lazy summer day at Fiskerton station saw a Cross Country DMU as part of the 11.05 Derby to Lincoln train on 17/08/1985. These units were the mainstay of this service often, as here, with a Metro- Cammell centre car in the set. The far car was 53656, the other two are presumably 53743 + 59531. Geoff Dowling.
