235.  BURY - BACUP SCHEME.

(a)  Commencement of service.

It is not anticipated that the new service can commence with the summer timetable on June 13th, 1955, but is is hoped to commence with the following winter timetable. Mr.Stanley will keep Committee advised of delivery of units.

(b)  Fuelling and Maintenance arrangements.

No difficulty is anticipated.

(c)   Rail clearances.

Mr.Randle has the question of the radiator and fan in hand with Metro-Cammell.

236.  BIRMINGHAM AND SUTTON COLDFIELD - LICHFIELD LINE.

B.T.C. approval not yet received for this scheme but it is included in the all Region diesel programme approved by them. (See Minute No.240). When orders for the construction of the units have been placed, target dates for introduction of service to be fixed, but in the meantime departments concerned to make preparations, including consideration of speed restrictions, fuelling and maintenance.

237.  NORTH WALES SCHEME.

Similar remarks apply to this scheme as in the Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield - Lichfield scheme referred to in the previous minute.

238.  BIRMINGHAM AND CASTLE BROMWICH. (BRITISH INDUSTRIES FAIR).

Mr. Gould stated that an hourly service is practicable if three 2-car units can be made available. Mr.Stanley will look into the possibility of temporarily supplying units from those being built at Derby, although this means later delivery of units for other schemes, and report as a matter of urgency so that publicity may be arranged.

Temporary arrangements can be made for fuelling the units for this scheme.

239.  CAMBRIDGE SCHEME. (L.M. & E.R.)

Noted that the Traffic Officers of the two Regions have been requested to further investigate this scheme.
