Messrs. Gould and Adkinson stated they would require the three 2-car units at least two weeks before the opening of the Fair on May 2nd and Mr.Stanley said by that time he anticipates the first three 2-car units being built for the East Anglia service will be available. The Chairman said he would speak to the Assistant General Manager of the Eastern Region regarding the use of these cars for the period of the Fair.
With regard to publicity for this service, Mr.Tonge referred to possible repercussions from the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce when the diesel service was withdrawn but it was agreed that arrangements should proceed for the service. Mr.Tonge said a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was to be held on the 24th February at which the Commercial and Publicity Departments would be represented, and Mr.Tonge will arrange for the proposals to be explained to the Chamber of Commerce and report and reactions.
Nothing further to report.
Mr Gould stated that the E.R. are still looking into the possibility of providing a unit for the early morning service from Kettering to Cambridge and it was hoped the matter would be settled by the next meeting.
