The Chairman referred to drawing DE.34940 of 63'6" design of unit which the Carriage & Wagon Engineer had supplied to the B.T.C. and to the possibility of units of this length being used having regard to the increased seating capacity over the standard units.
Such units would be prohibited by the Chief Civil Engineer over the following lines in the L.M.Region :-
Widnes and St.Helens Line
Maryport exclusive to Carlisle line
Hampstead Jcn. Line
Churnet Valley Line platforms at Uttoxeter station
Loop Line Etruria to Kidsgrove
Disley Tunnel on Buxton Branch
Through Whitehaven Tunnel and into Whitehaven Bransty Station
Macclesfield Central platform roads G.C. & N.S. Joint
Buckley and Connahs Quay platform
Stafford No.2 Bay Line platform
St. Pancras Kings Cross Tunnel
Hayfield Branch
Mr.Gould mentioned additional difficulties such as interavailability, length of stabling sidings, platforms, etc. and it was agreed that he would, in conjunction with the Chief Civil Engineer, consider each scheme in relation to 63'6" vehicles.
Noted that, following meeting with E.R., Joint report to the General Managers has been prepared and will be submitted shortly.
