In this connection Mr.Stanley pointed out that as the engines were not due until March, 1956, under normal allocation these would be fitted to the Newcastle-Carlisle vehicles, as the London Midland Region were not building any units for their own use as these were coming from the trade.

The Chairman said he would speak to Messrs.Harrison and Bond.

(d) Fuel Comsumption

The following figures of fuel oil consumption on the West Cumberland scheme were noted :-

February 1955   -   3.64  miles per gallon
March 1955 - 3.74       -do-
May 1955 - 3.76       -do-
June 1955 - 4.09       -do-

(e) Seating arrangements for 3-car units

Mr.Read's proposal for 33 third class seats in intermediate trailer to be reversed agreed, and Mr.Varley to follow up with B.T.C.

(f) Speed time curves

Mr.Harrison's letter of 13th july agreed in principle and Mr.Gould will take the initiative in developing the question with Mr.Harrison in conjunction with C.C.M. and M.P.S.

(g)   Maximum carrying capacity

Chairman said he had not yet had an opportunity of speaking to the G.M., but will do so before the next meeting.

(h) Outside colours.

Messrs.Butland and Stanley will consider and report their suggestions in regard to West Cumberland at the next meeting.

337. SUBURBAN UNITS - DOOR ARRANGEMENTS

Mr.Stanley said that the bottom sketch on drawing DE.1842 had been agreed by the Western Region through the B.T.C., and if any further alteration is required it will require the approval of the B.T.C.  Mr.Stanley will arrange for a draughtsman to contact Mr.Gould with the object of a drawing being prepared to show his proposals.
