4.  Bury - Bacup Scheme

6.  North Wales Part 1 Scheme

(b)  Operation of scheme.  Noted that to cope with additional traffic in the Birmingham area, it has been found necessary to transfer one 2-car set from the Bangor-Amlwch Branch and in the meantime the service in this branch is being steam operated.  (See minute 486.4)

Regarding the "Welsh Dragon" service, it was agreed that this be worked by diesel units unless the oil fuel situation deteriorates, in which case it may be necessary for the service to revert to steam; the Public Relations & Publicity Officer will arrange publicity as necessary.

Noted that, in order to lift the traffic offering during the summer period on the Llandudno-Blaenau Festiniog Branch it will be necessary for five additional 2-car units to be used.

7.  Manchester Part 1 scheme.

494.  BRITISH INDUSTRIES FAIR 6TH to 17TH MAY 1957.

Request from B.I.F. authorities for exhibition of 63'6" diesel unit.  Mr.Stanley reported that at the time of the Fair, Derby Works will be producing units for the Western Region and the design of these cars make them unsuitable for exhibition purposes.  Messrs.Stanley and Finlayson will look into the possibility of the unit with Rolls Royce engines at present on trial being released for this exhibition.
