Mr.Gould reported that it was proposed certain new services in this scheme should commence with the summer timetable, but difficulty was being experienced in planning the services owing to deliveries of both 2-car and 3-car units falling behind scheduled dates. The deficit in delivery is expected to be five 2-car sets and five 3-car sets, and the Chairman said he would approach the Eastern and North Eastern Regions to ascertain if they could temporarily loan any units.
One 3-car unit to be delivered in June, 1957.
Agreed that the question of the provision of fuelling and maintenance facilities for this scheme be re-considered when joint report received from Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineer and departments concerned regarding day to day maintenance.
Preliminary report already considered and final report progressing satisfactorily.
Revised report considered and agreed the submission of this to the Area Board would have to be deferred until receipt of the report requested from the Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineer and departments concerned regarding day to day maintenance. An endeavour to be made to submit report to the July Area Board.
