A failed DMU gets a helping hand from 55 002 THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY on April 25th 1981. The Deltic had arrived with the "North Briton" railtour from York via Carlisle, so the watching enthusiasts were able to enjoy the sight of KOYLI indulging in a bit of shunting before returning south. Newton Heath based NH132 (52062 + 50778) were part of the formation working the LCGB Manchester Terminals Farewell tour on 3/May/1969. The tour stopped as follows: Manchester Exchange, Kenyon Junction, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport Edgeley, Northenden Junction, Cheadle Heath South Junction, Buxton No.1, Buxton LNW, Briggs Sidings, Droylesden Junction, Stalybridge, Godley Junction, Glazebrook Junction, Cheadle Heath, Manchester Central, seen here with a 'photo-stop' at Stalybridge. For those who may be surprised at the headcode, 'X' was used for exceptional loads, out of gauge loads and Royal trains, 'Z' was used for inter-regional special workings and at the time on the Midland Region 'T' was used for internal special workings. Robert Chilton.
