Brightening-up an overcast Winter day, the Eastern Region General Managers saloon formed of a Gloucester Class 100 DMU, was stood at Doncaster on February 13th 1987. The set was formed of cars 975664 (ex E51122) & 975637 (E56300), and it was the only First Generation DMU to be painted in Provincial Services 'Sprinter' livery as applied to the Class 150/1 fleet when new. Unfortunately the set was scrapped in 1990. Martyn Hilbert.

This was the Eastern Region's 'Stourton Saloon', re-liveried by Ilford depot in 1985 in the two-tone blue scheme then being applied to the Provincial Sector's new railbuses (Classes 142 / 143). In dismal weather the 10.57 Cambridge - Doncaster DMU does a little trade at Spalding on Thursday October 21st 1982. This was just over a month before the end of the joint line from March by which route it had travelled. Norwich Cravens twin unit set no. 46 has E51273 leading E56123. The power car had spent over 18 years on the GN Suburban services before being sent to Norwich in early 1978. It was withdrawn in November 1984 and met its end at Snailwell in 1986. The unit at the rear is the departmental 'Stourton Saloon' by this time numbered ADB975664 & ADB975637. Gerard Fletcher.

In the platform on the left are the two departmental 100s: 975539 + 975349 and 975637 + 975664; it looks like the Cravens is next in that line, presumably its partner is 977454. Keith Miller.

Taken near Gilberdyke from a DMU heading for Hull, the Eastern Region general manager's inspection saloon "The Stourton Saloon" headed by DB975637 with DB975664 behind passes the other way on 18/Jun/1988. These two vehicles were converted from Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Co. class 100 DMUs 56300 (DTCL) and 51122 (DMBS) respectively. They were taken into departmental stock in 1978 and withdrawn in 1990, being scrapped at Snailwell in Cambridgeshire. Robert Chilton.
