Class 117 dmus were the backbone of local services out of London Paddington for many years following construction by Pressed Steel in Linwood, Scotland in 1959-61. This three-coach train (presumably 51362 and presumably 59514 + 51404) is passing the prefabricated delight of Slough signal box on August 11, 1984. Jeremy Chapter.

This wasn't the nicest place to stand with 4 very busy lanes of traffic behind the camera and probably isn't somewhere I'd go in 2023 given the OHLE catenary and less than riveting traction using the lines. The tour set out from Reading and travelled via Victoria, Kensington, the North London Line, Stratford, Finsbury Park and Peterborough.
