E50246 + E56079 at Bishop Auckland on November 11, 1981. Demolition of the triangular station is well underway. Darlington DMUs still used the platform on the closed route from Durham before being relocated to a new and much smaller station to the left of where the signalbox was John Carter.

Class 101 DMU at Radyr

53246 was renumbered 977393 and in 1987 sent to Cardiff Cathays as a third vehicle to convert to an Ultrasonic Test vehicle alongside 51433 / 53167 (977391/2 with an ex-SR EMU car in-between). In the event it was not used, and languished at Cathays until its closure in 1990 when it moved to Radyr, where it is seen here in circa 1993. It is covered in large stickers proclaimed as being stripped of asbestos by Vic Berrys. It was cut up at MC Metals in Glasgow in June '93. Chris Adams.

Whitby at 16.00 on 4 September 1971, the last Saturday of the summer season. The station is full of 101's waiting to form late afternoon and early evening trains returning to Middlesbrough. On the right, waiting to depart at 16.08, are (from l.to r.) 56061/51211 + 50246/50139. Leonard Rogers.
