Whitby at 16.00 on 4 September 1971, the last Saturday of the summer season. The station is full of 101's waiting to form late afternoon and early evening trains returning to Middlesbrough. On the right, waiting to depart at 16.08, are (from l.to r.) 56061/51211 + 50246/50139. Leonard Rogers.
Whitby station, photographed on 3 August 1981. The Class 101 MetroCamm set (50139/59070/50293) has just arrived as the 11.58 from Middlesbrough. On the left is a Class 104 set, the DMS seems to be 50576. Lewis Bevan.
A pair of 2-car Metro-Cammell sets with E50139 leading arrive at Goole before setting off down the Knottingley branch on 30th July 1983. Syd Young.
Norwich based 53139 seen in Norwich Thorpe Station, undated. Mac Winfield.
I used an Anglian Day Rover ticket on 20 August 1988 to visit Norwich, Clacton, Walton and Felixstowe before returning to Ely, where our day had started. This is Felixstowe station, with Class 101 dmu NR106 (allocated to Norwich Crown Point with vehicles 53139 + 59092 + 53238) having just arrived as the 14.56 from Ipswich. Lewis Bevan.

53139 at the front of set 106 (with 53238 and presumably 59092) at Westerfield Junction, June 6, 1989. John Carter.
Met-Camm set 106 (presumably 53139 + 59092 + 53238) at Reedham on 7/6/89. Sparegang.

Left: E50293 + E59070 + E50139, right: E50210 + E56410; at Thornaby on July 16, 1981. Thornaby was refuelling and stabling DMUs at this time and the nearest set is doing the shunt moves necessary to get on the depot. Thornaby station buildings were demolished soon after, becoming a windswept platform with only a bus shelter for passenger accommodation. Although now much improved with a ticket office and waiting room it is a shame the original buildings hadn't been renovated. John Carter.
The 10:00 Whitby-Middlesbrough is seen departing Castleton Moor on 12 August 1981. The three-car Met-Camm DMU has E50293 closest, the other two cars are presumably E59070 and (still in all-blue) E50139. Robert Thomas.
Class 101 set 106 (presumably 53238/59092/53139) seen near Wickham Market, 7/9/86. David Underwood.
Set 106 (presumably 53238 + 59092 + 53139) in Brampton on the 7th September 1986. David Underwood.
Class 101 set 106 at Westerfield Junction on June 6, 1989. 53238 closest, presumably with 59092 + 53139. John Carter.
