A Class 104 DMU with M56176 closest waits to leave Windermere with the 10:57 to Oxenholme on 24/5/81. Sparegang.
A view along the then double track Ormskirk route on Farington Moss with a Class 104 on the 11.55 Ormskirk to Preston service on a warm May 11th 1981. The two-car DMU is running between the occupation crossings at Naptha Lane and Lodge Lane, the then full-height chimney at the former Moss's Cotton Mill in Lostock Hall is prominent in this flat landscape. Class 104 BRCW built DMU's were pretty much standard traction for the Wigan to Kirkby branch back in the 1980's ahead of the mass invasion by Pacer Railbuses by the mid 1980's.
