Alston, February 1976. At 12:30pm, cars 51212 56373 wait to return to Haltwhistle. Original slide says M 22/02/1976, but that date is a Sunday and the timetable for the period had no Sunday services on the branch... on a weekday, the next departure would be 1245 Alston-Haltwhistle. On Saturday August 2nd 1980, the 15.53 Cambridge - Peterborough service is formed of Cambridge allocated Met-Cam E51225 + E56373 when seen at March West Jn. These sets had been refurbished and were normally found on the Cambridge - Royston or Bishop's Stortford shuttles with only occasional forays elsewhere. Gerard Fletcher.
