Tyseley Met-Camm set 400 (M50303 and presumably M59114 + M50321) at Henley-in-Arden with the SLS 'Farewell to the Honeybourne Cheltenham Line' tour on March 23, 1968. Note the location of the BR logo, and the smaller 3" vehicle numbers. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Barmouth on Sunday 20/8/1972. In a more enlightened era, Sunday services were offered to West Midlanders to enable them to spend a day on the Cambrian Coast. This 101 unit (with TY400 closest, presumably (50321 59114 50303) is preparing to run into Barmouth were it will work back to Birmingham New St. Another unit (CR251) rests in the excursion platform. Stephen Burdett.
Class 101 Met-Camm set TY400 (presumably 50303 + 59114 + 50321) and a Class 116 are seen just north of Great Bridgeford (Stafford) on a snowy day in early 1973. Michael Mensing.
Tyseley allocated Class 101 DMU set TY400 (50321 and presumably 59114 + 50303) is seen at Hartlebury with a Hereford service in mid-1973. Michael Mensing.
Class 101 DMU set TS400, M50303 and presumably M59114 + M50321, in Stratford-upon-Avon station on Monday 28 May 1979. David Russon.
Refurbished Tyseley Class 101 set TS403 (presumably 50303 + 59114 + 50336) getting loaded with mail at Swindon. The slide process date is December 1981. Stuart Mackay Collection.
I’m not sure how often West Midlands DMUs made it to Devon but it seems a long way to me and certainly would not have been my preferred choice of transport for such a journey. However, this six car set comprising a Class 116 Derby Triple and Class 101 Metro Cammell Triple (TS403, 53336 and presumably 59114 + 53303) arrived at Exeter St Davids from the north on Monday 16th May 1983. In spite of the “Bristol Temple Meads” destination(!) this very busy train terminated at Exeter and was shunted into the sidings on the up side of the station. My attempts to identify the train from the timetable proved fruitless and it still remains something of a mystery. Brian McDevitt.
Set TS403 (53336 + 59114 + 53303) in seen sitting in Leamington Spa station at 20:19 on Wednesday 24/8/83. Mel Holley.
TS419 (53328 + 59114 + 53318) leads 'The Ruddington Requiem' railtour at East Leake on 9 June 1984. Mel Smith.
53318 + 59114 + 53328 at the front of The Ruddington Requiem railtour at East Leake on 9 June 1984. Mel Smith.
The Ruddington Requiem railtour at East Leake (GCR) on 9/6/84. It was formed 53910 + 59130 + 53857 / 53055 + 59611 + 53116 / 53318 + 59114 + 53328. Mel Smith.
The Ruddington Requiem railtour at Lawfield on 9/6/84. It was formed 53910 + 59130 + 53857, 53055 + 59611 + 53116, 53318 + 59114 + 53328. Chris Lings.
The 17.40 Paddington - Stratford-upon-Avon pauses at High Wycombe on 14 July 1984. Set TS419 is presumably formed 53318 + 59114 + 53328. Robert28194.
This was for many years one of my favourite locations for northbound trains on the GWR line between Leamington Spa and Birmingham. It was somewhere around half way up Hatton Bank and was a very pleasant and quiet location for an afternoon's photography. There was plenty of freight traffic interspersed with regular DMMUs between Leamington, Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham along with ECS moves such as this one formed of a class 116 (TS622 with a Met-Camm centre car, presumably 53071 + 59114 + 53880) coupled to a class 108 Derby Lightweight which I took on 28 August 1986. Around 10 or 12 years after this view young trees were planted along the fenceline and have now completely obscured the line so much so that one can walk along the permissive footpath and not know that there is railway line alongside. Peter Tandy.
Class 116 set T322 (53880 + 59114 + 53071) about to enter Worcester Shrub Hill on May 8th, 1987. Steve Jones.
M53071 of T322 (which has a 101 centre car, presumably 59114) trails out of Cardiff Central on the 11:32 to Birmingham New Street, 18/7/87. PJ Evans.
M53887 M59114 M53866 (set TS349) at Birmingham Snow Hill 7th April 1988. Keith Long.
