Sc79109 at the head of a three-car Swindon Inter-City set in Glasgow Queen Street on 12th January, 1957. The power car has no crest on the bodyside, but is carrying an 'Edinburgh - Glasgow' roof board. George Bett.
Withdrawn Class 126 units at Millerhill in April 1973 (SC79109 closest). Most of the withdrawn E&G Swindons, which is what we knew them as, ended up stored at Millerhill Yard before being taken south for Scrap. They then hung around in East Anglia for a quite a while as we kept stumbling across them when we were on trips at such unlikely places as Ely and Mistley awaiting devouring by Kings scrapyards in Norwich and Snailwell. Some also went to Swindon for cutting up and sat alongside the Westerns waiting their turn to go. Alistair Ness.
Former E&G vehicles stored at Ely on 17 July 1979 awaiting movement to disposal at Snailwell scrapyard. SC79109 is in the centre, on the right seems to be SC79089 and on the left should be SC79164. Phil Bevan.
Withdrawn Swindon-built 79xxx vehicles at Ely circa 1975, Sc79164 closest, Sc79109 behind. John Law.
E&G Swindon vehicles at Ely Station Yard on 21/2/76 awaiting movement for scrapping - it would be four years before they moved to Snailwell. Right to left are DMSL Sc79164 and DMBSLs Sc79109 and Sc79083. Bob Gregory.
Many of the 79xxx series Inter-City units were spread around the country after withdrawal as they slowly worked their way to Snailwell. Here DMS SC79164 and an 'leading' DMBS SC79109 are seen at Ely on 3/8/76. Ian Francis.

Grounded 'white circle' Swindon built 'Intercity' ex Scottish Region DMU cars were awaiting the end at the King's scrapyard at Snailwell on a snowy November 29th 1980. The units were built in 1956 and worked between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh until 1971 when they were replaced by Class 27's on push-pull duties. Centre is SC79164, on the right SC79109 and on the left facing away is believed to be SC79105. Martyn Hilbert.
The end of the line for four former Scottish Region, Swindon built 'Inter City' DMU power cars. The intermediate car is SC79164, two of the others are noted as SC79105, SC79109 (the latter with the cab facing us). They stand off the rails in Kings Scrapyard at Snailwell in Cambridgeshire on a wintery 29th November 1980. The units were contaminated with asbestos and would be passed through the on-site firing tunnel before the charred remains were cut-up for scrap. Martyn Hilbert.
