On a dull day in March 1988, Haymarket's set 305 (51227 + 59045 + 53264) rasps away up the hill from Dunfermline Lower with a train for Cowdenbeath. Less than 2 months later the centre car of this set was withdrawn and the power cars reallocated to Newton Heath. Half a mile in the distance is the former Touch junctions where a chord once allowed trains to access the direct Dunfermline to Alloa line, the last remaining section from Oakley to Townhill had been lifted in 1986 following the closure of Comrie Colliery.
