Arriving at Shirley station on a fine evening is one of Tyseley's class 116 DMUs (set TS500, presumably 50092 + 59000 + 50061). It is working the 16.50 Stratford - Birmingham Moor Street. The train has recently been given the new livery of white with a blue stripe, this colour scheme looked very attractive when fresh but it did not stand up to day-to-day use and was soon phased out in favour of the 'coach' livery of blue and pale grey. Shirley today remains a pleasant station, the running in board has gone and so have the semaphore signals. 18/06/1979
