A Derby Works image (negative 57/462) showing the first Derby suburban triple (Class 116) DMU. Formed of W50092 + W59000 + W50050 it was delivered to Tyseley in April 1957. The marker lamp casings on the lower cab front are not painted in the body colour as they normally were; the outer pair are shallower than normal with plates over them. The vehicles in this Derby Works image (negative 57/461) are W50050 + W59000 + W50092 probably taken at Rushton on the Churnet Valley line. After 55000 had shunted from platform 1 to 2 at Stratford-upon-Avon on 16 May 1986 an arrival from Birmingham Moor Street was allowed to enter the station ready to form the 08.26 back to Birmingham. Tyseley class 116 unit T627 formed of 53061 + 59613 + 53092 is shown here passing the inner home signal with the starters for platform 3 and the Cold Store siding on the right of the picture. Is that two staff member standing looking at the engine? This is believed to be 53061, seen at Aberdare on 13 November 1987. It was allocated to Tyseley at the time and displays set number TS627 in the left cab window. M53092 is on the rear, the centre car is presumably Class 127 TSL 59596. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Four coach DMU sets were relatively unusual at Stratford-upon-Avon but on 26 April 1991 set T420 (presumably 51892 + 59032 + 59607 + 53092) visited the terminus with an afternoon arrival from Birmingham Moor Street. The white and red lights on the front of the unit shows that it was about to shunt into platform 2 to allow a Leamington Spa service to use platform 1. Peter Tandy.
