M51569 (BX489) part of the Buxton allocation is a 1960 built Derby Lightweight Class 108 DMCL, calls at Cheedale Halt with the Summer Sundays only Edale - Buxton ramber service on 6th September 1987, in this view heading towards Buxton rather inappropriately displaying Piccadilly on the destination blind. Cheedale Halt was on the Buxton - Great Rocks freight only line and was opened on the 5th July 1987, it was used by Peak Rail's Rambler's service from Edale-Buxton service, about 3 return trips a day, and closed after the last train had left on the 13th September 1987, so a week after I took this, the freight line is still open. A 2-car Class 114 DMU (vehicles 56047 + 50030) calls at Edale working the 12.20 Sheffield-New Mills on 25 October 1977. The 2 vehicles had a long working life on BR. 50030 was new (to 40A Lincoln) on 24 January 1957, and was withdrawn from TS Tyseley on 4 October 1987. It was scrapped at MC Metals, in Glasgow. 56047 was new (also to 40A) on 17 April 1957 and was withdrawn from TS on 4 October 1989. It is now preserved on the Strathspey Railway. Lewis Bevan.
