Set 101363 at Stirling on 23/05/1984. Car numbers are 53144 + 59049 + 53746. The leading car unusually retains the central marker lights (top and bottom) and the top one even looks like it might be switched on, though there is no glass lens - both these central lights were usually removed upon refurbishment. The full length uninterrupted cantrail rain strip suggests the vehicle has been refurbished. Graeme Phillips Collection.
SC53144 at Snailwell on 1st July 1990. Nicholas Youngman.
SC53146 is seen in the platform at Rosyth Dockyard as part of a shuttle running for the open day on June 16, 1984. On the left is a 107 on 'The Tay-Forth Venturer' railtour. Hamish Stevenson.

101321 (presumably 53146 + 59542 + 51249) departs from Edinburgh Waverley 11 March 1986. Notice how the set number is also carried on the end of the centre car. Stuart Mackay Collection.

101321 (presumably 53146 closest) at Dunlop on the 12.45 Glasgow Central - Kilmarnock, 23-11-1987. A futile attempt to take a shot in poor light. This looks like the train's heading into the sunset - actually it was the middle of a cold November day. The sun glints on the rails ahead. This was once double track. The area on the right became totally overgrown. To the left (the old goods yard) is now housing, with an obscenely high fence totally hemming in the platform. In 2009, the line from Stewarton to Lugton was re-doubled, and this view of Dunlop station has been totally transformed. It is now a twin track station again, and benefitting from a half hourly service between Kilmarnock and Glasgow. Gordon Thomson.
On 14 April 1991 former Strathclyde class 101, now Tyseley set T078 with 53146 + 51249 were calling at Nottingham station while working an eastbound train. The destination blind is blank so I have no idea of the destination but either Lincoln or Skegness are possibilities. Most of the waiting passengers were clearly waiting for a later train as none seem to be moving towards the DMU. Peter Tandy.
101 321 (presumably 53146 closest) heads up Cowlairs incline away from Glasgow Queen Street on 8/7/89. It's been stripped of almost all of its roof ventilators. John Reddyhoff.

Class 101 set T078 (presumably 53146 + 51249) seen in Llandudno Junction on the 29th May 1991. Hamish Stevenson.
One of the more colourful units to arrive at Stratford-upon-Avon was this ex-Strathclyde class 101 (T078, 53146 + 51249). I saw it on the morning of 1 July 1991 but was unable to get out of the office during the day to record it on film. However, it stuck to diagram and is pictured here leaving the Warwickshire terminus in the company of Class 117 T310 still in corporate blue and grey. The Tyseley unit unit number appears to been applied in a rather amateurish fashion, as does the paint covering the front-end damage - the colour there is more akin to the bodyside shade rather than the normal yellow. Still, I suppose that this were the final months of DMMU workings in the area, so it probably wasn't worth spending too much on the cosmetic appearance of local trains. Peter Tandy.
Tyseley Class 101 power twin set T078 (53146 + 51249) approaches Hereford on 26 July 1991. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 101 set T078 (presumably 53146 + 51249) is seen at Blythe Bridge in September 1991. Simon Barnes.
