Passing at Preston. A Class 104 DMU, arriving at Preston, passes Class 86 electric locomotive No. 86204 at the north end of the station. The DMU has come from Blackpool North despite what it says on the destination blind. Photo taken in July 1975, probably on Saturday 19th. Seeing this photo again, it occurs to me that the 'knitting' north of Preston was still relatively new at the time. Tom Harper.

Some serious track maintenance being examined by all and sundry as Buxton DMUs are seen crossing on Stockport viaduct July 31, 1975. On the left, M50483, M59139 & M50431 (nearest) head toward Piccadilly whilst on the right M50423 (nearest), M59135 & M50427 are bound for Whaley Bridge as they approach the platform at Stockport. DMU cars M50536 and M56179 wait to form the 16.41 to Stalybridge in a bay at Stockport on 7 September 1975. I seem to remember the service was occasional even in these days, but of course it was reduced to just one service a week as a means of avoiding the closure procedure. Jeremy Chapter.

Taken in the days when there were two passenger stations in Lincoln, here are BRCW Class 104 cars E50597 and 56186 standing at Lincoln Central having arrived on the 12.10 from Sheffield. Lincoln St Marks site is now a shopping centre whose name is in the style of an Eastern Region dark blue totem. September 10 1975. Jeremy Chapter.
