Having just passed under the M6 Motorway, A Class 104/108 combo was approaching Bamber Bridge with a Colne to Preston service on April 10th 1982. The leading BRCW Class 104 set was formed of Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M50467 & Driving Motor Composite Lavatory (DMCL) M50519. Both sets were complete with their first class saloons. Nearest the camera is Birmingham RC&W DMBS 50451. The unit is in one of the bay platforms at Manchester Victoria station. This station, even in diesel days, seemed to live up to the 'Victoria' part of it's name, the old world atmosphere is helped here by the porter and handcart ambling past the DMU. The train, photographed 26/04/1982, was operating on the Oldham circular service. Geoff Dowling.
