Emerging from beneath Bee Lane bridge, a four car Class 104 with cars M53454 & M53528 leading, were approaching Farington Curve Junction with a Preston to Leeds service on April 23rd 1987. The bars on the droplights had been fitted due to restricted clearances in Holme Tunnel on the steeply-graded Copy Pit route. Martyn Hilbert.

A two-car BRCW Class 104 DMU formed of Driving Motor Brake Second M53454 and Driving Motor Second Lavatory M53528, was arriving at Rufford with a Preston to Ormskirk service on May 11th 1988. Martyn Hilbert.

53454 at Buxton on the 6th May 1989, showing Whaley Bridge on its blind, a throw back from the Whaley Bridge turn back days, on the route which they became synonynous with, with the 104 DMUPG "Buxton 104 Farewell" which had just worked in non stop from Manchester Piccadilly, by this time the 104's had been displaced by 108's which in turn were being displaced by the new Sprinters, so this might well have been the last visit of a 104 to Buxton.
