This slide, taken at Halesworth on 17 April 1974 noted the train as the 12:48 Liverpool St - Lowestoft. At the front is a 105 DMBS/101 DTCL hybrid, closest is Class 105 DMBS E50382 - note how the top cream lining from the green livery has not been sanded flat and is the blue paint has flaked off it in several places. A Cravens 2-car set runs into the staggered platforms of Bow Brickhill station on 3 July 1974, working the 09.00 Bedford to Bletchley. The station is still open, but is now equipped with half-barriers, steel fencing and security cameras. Bow Brickhill level crossing featured briefly in a 1963 episode of 'The Saint' TV series. Heading north looking back over the engineering marvel that is the 1890 Forth Railway Bridge over the Firth of Forth. This is a view of the intricate steelwork (in the days when they still used to paint it!) from the dmu rear seat.
