Three different DMU types stabled in the sidings at Kyle Street, Ayr, circa mid-1982. Closest is a Class 107 (set 429) showing the later style of a Derby cab (note the black handrails). In the middle is 101345 showing the Met-Camm style, and then a Class 126 showing one of the many variations of Swindon cabs. John Horne.

A 107/116 hybrid is the front set in this Glasgow bound formation at Paisley Gilmour Street in August 1982. SC52022 is at the front, it was withdrawn in 1983, a good 7-8 years before mass withdrawal of the class started. Andrew McConnell.
107 448 has passed Lochside signal box on its way to Ayr in the summer of 1982. Note the short signal post to assist sighting under the farm crossing overbridge - conversely the signal in the Glasgow direction has a tall post (with repeater arm) and is positioned outside the curve to assist sighting round the shallow, curved cutting. Nice surroundings, G&SWR signal box, semaphore signals, easy (reasonably legal) farm track access and Ayrshire DMUs in full flight. The new A737 has permanently blighted this area.
