107 027 at Dundee (Tay Bridge) on 30/3/91, it has just arrived as the 15.35 ex Carnoustie. The set has lost its centre car and looks very run down. For many years it was common for Glasgow Works to despatch overhauled DMU vehicles to Edinburgh in the consist of the daily parcels train from nearby Sighthill parcels depot. On 27th December 1980 there seems to have been a mistake and one of Hamilton depot’s class 107 sets (59782 + 52021 visible) arrived. I can only assume that 40161 was being used to return it to the correct destination, seen leaving Haymarket station. Possibly one of the last workings for 40161 as it was withdrawn 2 days later.
