Viewed from the cab of 40092, 03189 hauls a Class 108 DMU on the Southport Station to Steamport shuttle for the open day held on 12 September 1982. Class 104s can be seen in the sidings in the distance. Andrew Bond.

Freshly painted DMUs in Swindon Works on 20 September 1982. There seems to be plenty of mechanical work underway, note the large extractors above the vehicle ends allowing the vehicles to be run without creating a smoke filled shed. There are plenty of mechanical parts up the centre including air receivers, heaters, starter motors, a radiator and board with a variety of gaskets. Keith Miller.

A Class 108 heads into the gathering gloom with its tail lamp visible late on a Autumn afternoon as it passes the Cocker Bar between Midge Hall and Croston with a Preston to Ormskirk service on November 7th 1982. Dominating this scene is the Down Distant signal for Northbound trains approaching Midge Hall, unfortunately in the intervening years the tall peg has since been replaced with a reflective board. The first of a strip of three negatives that seem to show a failure at Bentham (the station is at the other side of the bridge) sometime in 1983. It is a two-car Class 108 (DTSL is 54208) and a two-car Met-Camm. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A crew member can be seen working under the closest cab of the Met-Camm - possibly isolating the final drive. Only one vehicle number is known, Class 108 DTSL which was 54208.
