Permanent way work at the once 4 tracked Buxworth cutting, just south of New Mills South Junc on the Hope Valley line, sees 37079 (D6779) stationary on a ballast train, whilst a class 108 comes past wrong line with a local service to Sheffield. on today's railway this would mean Rail Replacement buses. 24th February 1985. An unidentified class 47 reverses its excursion train out of the sidings at Spalding at the end of the annual Flower Parade day, on it's right is an 8 car class 101 dmu, our 'Merrymaker' from Furness Vale is on the left made up of a 2 car class 108 and 2x3 car class 104 dmu's whilst on top of that is another loco hauled excursion with a class 47 on it. 4th May 1985. It looks as if you can park you car, coach, mini bus and your 3 car class 108 dmu outside the front of Spalding railway station, on the occasion is the annual Flower Parade day. Looking at Google Maps this has all changed with a road across here now but the station buildings haven't changed, and there is my mum there most likely reading that months 'Flower Monthly'. 4th May 1985 Andrew J Crowther.
