Returning to Appley Bridge I found 47 229 in the waste siding coupled to its train of empty containers and ready to leave, however the 2-car Class 108 DMU from Southport would have to clear the section first. 22nd August 1984. S Gaskell.

Wigan North Western was home to three pairs of Class 108 DMUs on this bright winter's day in December 1984. The 4-car set in platform 4 is likely to be the 11.35 Blackpool North to Liverpool Lime Street service, due to leave Wigan at 12.22, while the 2-car set in platform 3 would form the next Liverpool service an hour later. Doncaster South Yorkshire 1985: the old order on the East Coast Main Line at Doncaster station. We had just arrived from Thorne North on the Class 108 Hull-Sheffield diesel multiple unit standing at platform 3. Over in bay platform 6 is a Class 141 Pacer British Rail/Leyland railcar on a Metro-Train Leeds service. Introduced in 1984 these lightweight units were all withdrawn by 1997 and in 2001-2 many were exported to Iran. Pete LG99.

A Class 108 is seen amongst a variety of vehicles in Derby Litchurch Lane Works. David Faircloth notes "the 'photo was taken from the "Long Bridge", this still crosses the works site, but has been closed for about 6 years. The land on which the vehicles stand is now outside the works, and is covered by an industrial estate (Citygate)." Ian Francis.
