The sad sight of 52051 after a fire at Totnes in February 1991. I arrived on site after she had been unceremoniously dumped out of the way to clear for cautionary running. I found that No.2 Final Drive had not gone in the correct direction for travel contra-rotating the engine. Michael Boot.

Class 108 DMSL 52051 in two parts at Totnes circa Spring 1991. It had caught fire travelling down Rattery Bank on 18 February 1991, the fire put out at Littlehempston then the vehicle dumped here where it would remain until broken up in August by staff from Gwent Demolition. Peter Boor.

Class 108s at Liverpool Lime Street, 09/07/1980. The leading car M52052 appears to be newly refurbished - by this date, the white livery with blue band had been dropped in favour of this familiar blue & grey scheme, which had previously been reserved for Inter-City / Cross-Country vehicles as well as coaching stock. Class 104 trailer E59225 in all blue livery is sandwiched between class 108 power twins M52053 nearest and M52059 at Manchester Victoria on 16th July 1983 having arrived on a service from Blackpool North Kevin Law.

A five-car DMU formation consisting of Class 108/104 hybrid M52053 & M53478 coupled to a 3-Car Swindon Cross-Country set, was stood on the Up Fast at Leyland station with a Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria service on November 2nd 1985. Martyn Hilbert.

Class 108 DMS M52053 disappears beneath the bridge that takes the B5247 Bretherton Road across the line, as it departs from Croston whilst working the 17.25 Ormskirk to Preston on April 4th 1986. It is working with a Class 104 DMBS - probably 53478. Martyn Hilbert.
