Having terminated at Shirley with a service from Birmingham, Tyseley class 116 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) TS500 (presumably 50061 + 59000 + 50092) has pulled out of the station and after the driver changed ends, waits to cross over from the up to the down line and return as the 1829 to Birmingham Moor St on 2 September 1978. An unusual hybrid dmu formation passes Saughton Jct with an Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy working in December 1978. Looks like 2/3 of a Derby class 116 with a Gloucester single car on the rear, this will likely be an Eastfield set. Murray Liston.
