Parcel DMU set L343 at Hanwell station sometime in 1974. The Class 130 (ex-116) power cars are presumably 50915 and 50819 - they had a GUV between them, presumably W86174 or W86572 which were once in the Railair set. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Unit L360 on a Marlow branch train in platform 5 of Maidenhead on September 22 1972. It comprised W50083 and driving trailer W56285, the latter being non-gangwayed and locked out of use. Tom Burnham.
This is the scene at the back of Southall shed, where we can see two of the spare DMU vehicles that were used at the time, replacing damaged Class 117 Pressed Steel cars. Class 116 W50083 was the only one of the class that worked out of Paddington and W59543 was one of only three Met Cams - all centre cars - both seen in this shot, along with W55991 one of the two allocated Class 128 parcels units. I would have been on one of my frequent 'after school' visits to Southall footbridge to do a bit of train-spotting, circa early to mid 1970s. Sometimes I would venture down to the trackside, as in this shot, and even bunk round the shed as on this occasion. I used to like 'running the gauntlet' to try and get to the back of the shed, and then wend my way back slowly so I could 'cop' as many units on the walk back before I got thrown out ;) There was often a collection of interesting stray vehicles stored at the back of the shed, as seen in this view. Chris McKee.
Class 116 M50072 at Southall carrying set number L370 in the cab window, TC M59009 is the centre car. Date unknown, they spent some time in 1974/5 allocated to Reading. In the upper right is a Class 128/116 parcel combo. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 116 trailer composite M59009 seen at Southall. It is working with DMBS M50072 labelled as L370. Date unknown, but the normally Tyseley based vehicles were at Reading 10/74 to 5/75. Note the GRC&W parcels car working with a suburban vehicle, probably one of the Class 116 parcel conversions. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 116 DMBS W50083 leads set L440 into Paddington on 16 August 1976. The other vehicles are presumably 59543 (101) and 51399 (117). Phil Bevan.
Class 116/118 DMU set L705 arrives into Crouch Hill station with a Barking - Gospel Oak service in January 1989. The two vehicles are presumably 53820 and 51319. Stuart Mackay Collection.

L745 (presumably 116 DMBS 53820 + 118 DMS 51319) and a Class 108 Reading bound at Maidenhead on 08/02/1991. Another set sits in the station. Andrew Malloy.

Hybrid 116/101/116 DMU set N358 (presumably 53920 + 59114 + 53867) in Carnforth station. Undated, this formation existed from May to September 1988. Stuart Mackay Collection.

With an incorrect destination blind and with Western Region 'W' prefixes on its numbers, a two-car Class 116 Suburban DMU formed of cars W53922 & W53839 was stood in platform 2 at Preston with a Preston to Colne service on June 4th 1988. As a three car set, the unit had previously worked from Cardiff Canton Depot, but was transferred to Newton Heath in 1988 to provide cover for the then troublesome new Class 142 fleet. Martyn Hilbert.
Class 116 N361 arriving at Salford Crescent from the Wigan direction while a 2 car Class 101 arrives from Bolton. N361 looks like it's a two car at this time - May 1988 Steve Robinson.
