On Sunday 28th May 1989 the overhead power lines were switched off for maintenance etc, therefore the first few up locals from Birmingham / Rugby and Northampton were DMUs. My train to work that Sunday morning was a 4-car DMU Set from Tyseley depot, seen here in the Up Main Platform at Watford Junction, no doubt the Up Slow Line was also out for track maintenance! The back coach as seen here is a Class 116 53891 departing Watford Junction for Euston. AndrewHA.
Barnt Green station is at the junction where the Redditch branch leaves the Birmingham to Gloucester main line. On 26 August 1991 Tyseley set T416 was formed of 53891 + 59609 + 59648 + 51876 from classes 116, 127 and 115 as it joined the branch with a Cross City service from Four Oaks. This formation was the usual for Tyseley's four-car sets at the time but class 150s were not far off mass introduction so scenes like this were well worth recording and in 2021 OHLE masts have changed everything with electric units working both the branch and Bromsgrove terminating trains. Peter Tandy.

07:35 Coventry to Skegness passing Heckington on 6th June 1992, presumably with 53897 at the front. Nick Slocombe.
This shot of T419 (presumably 51151 closest) is one of those so ordinary that at the time it hardly seemed worth taking and if it hadn't been for the HST in the background disappearing to the north the shutter release probably wouldn't have been pressed. Since my picture was taken on 9 September 1990 the semaphores have gone to be replaced with colour lights and the route has been electrified with 25kv overhead catenary. Peter Tandy.
