Class 116 DMBS 53053 leading set T324, with 59672 and 53101 on the Lickey Incline near Bromsgrove on 4/Mar/1990. The centre trailer is a class 115 TCL. The leading vehicle still retains it's top marker light - originally the earliest batches of class 116s had four marker lights, one above the destination box and three across the cab front. Later the lower centre marker light was removed leaving just the two standard marker lights on the cab front; in most cases the top light was removed at the same time. Robert Chilton.

Emitting a great plume of smoke as it passes... destination blind reads Longbridge, but it's not clear if this is a passenger service or an ECS move. Strong backlighting and a misty morning don't make for great photographic conditions. This is class 116/101 hybrid set T036 formed of 53054 + 53245 approaching the station at Wellington in Shropshire on 7 September 1991 with a Wolverhampton to Chester train. The bracket signal was notable for having quite short arms for the 3 aspects and had been converted from lower to upper quadrant at some point. The arm on the right had side gave access to a bay in the down platform area. Peter Tandy.
