Examples of products from BR's Derby and Swindon workshops at Cardiff Canton depot circa late 1978. W50863 has an interesting set number, it had been transferred to TS in mid-78 and the T possibly replaced a C. At the time Tyseley set numbers used a TY prefix and were carried in the cab windows, it would be several years until this style became common at the depot. Also, 50863 was not a regular member of C313, but seems to have been spare before the more. The 120 has orange curtains, so this should be DMBC 51581. John Law.

A misty day in early 1991 doesn't do a lot for Tyseley's class 116/101 hybrid set T042 (53863 + 51509) as it comes from the Great Western main line into the local platform with a service from either Dorridge or Leamington Spa. The station here bears some resemblance to one a bit further up the line at Small Heath with a massive building over the up and down main lines, very much a feature of the larger GWR edifices. Both these Birmingham stations now serve only local traffic with no main line trains serving them. Peter Tandy.

An interesting Combination of DMU's is seen at Luxulyan Station possibly on a Newquay to Par service on the 21st of July 1973. The leading car is labelled as set P356 and thus it is likely to be Class 116 DMBS 50865. It is followed by two Cross-Country sets, the roof vents indicate that the first is a 120 and the second a 119. Then there is another plain blue car in the rear. The KDH Archive.
A three-car Derby built Class 116 DMU has arrived at Southminster on the 16.5 mile branch from Wickford May 1st 1980. Driving Motor Brake Second E50865 leads in this view looking towards the buffer stops. The station retained its run-round loop, as the branch was visited by nuclear flask trains servicing Bradwell Nuclear Power Station. Visible in this view is a distant shunting disc signal complete with yellow band. The branch was electrified in 1986 and is now known as the Crouch Valley Line. Martyn Hilbert.
