In the pouring rain my train made up of a 3-car Swindon Cross-Country dmu waits at Nuneaton station platform prior to departure for Leicester & Derby on 18th October 1974. Another LNWR signal box - Nuneaton Up Sidings Shunting Frame - overlooks the scene & the ornate LNWR awnings belie the modern electric scene. Pete LG99.

Swindon Cross-Country set C552 in Gloucester Central Station on 19th October 1974. Until the mid-1970s Gloucester had two main line stations although from 1968 they were operated as one. Shown here, on a grey rainy english day, is the ex-Great Western Railway Central station which is still open today. Pete LG99.

A Cardiff Swindon Cross-Country DMU in platform 1 of Gloucester Central on 19th October 1974. Gloucester was the southwestern extent of my Midlands Runabout ticket and I had just arrived from Birmingham and would soon take the bridge to Eastgate and return from there back to Birmingham shortly.
