I think I took it because it was on the rarely used middle line between these platforms, Today the image has an historical context that I didn't envisage in my last year as a teenager! Arnie Furniss.

A fire-damaged Class 120 DMBC in Swindon Works on 13 September 1975. It appears to have been an engine fire while the vehicle was the rear vehicle, and since there were no withdrawals in this period it will have been repaired. There seems to be no damage to the body other then the burnt paint. Much of the underframe equipment has been removed. Stuart Mackay Collection.

This is thought to be the 10:32 Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Temple Meads, seen at Gloucester Eastgate on 29 November 1975. It is formed of a Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU with DMSL W50694 closest. Robert Thomas.

A seven-car DMU formation arrives into Inverness, date unknown. The first Class 120, set 305 with the DMBF thought to be SC51785, has a 122 standing in for the rear power car. Attached to the rear of the second Class 120 is another Class 122. Thought to be taken circa 1976, Inverness depot had two passenger 122s at that time, 55005 and 55011.
