A Red Star branded set on Chester depot in the mid/late 1980s, the closest vehicle was originally one of the ScR DMBF conversions. Of the three that entered parcel use only one had the number under the second window (the others were closer to the BR arrows) making this 51783. David Rowe.

Class 120 + 108 near Paisley Gilmour Street Station, circa 1986. A class 108 leads a Swindon Cross Country out of Paisley on their journey towards the Ayrshire coast. This was the first time I saw a 108 in Scotland in modern times and its arrival (along with the Class 120s and other units) was one of the first visible signs of the start of the influx of DMUs from other regions to cover for the Class 107s during their temporary withdrawal with driving axle problems. The set number on the 120 appears to read 528, so the closest car should be 53722. Andrew McConnell.

Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works and Class 120 DMBF Sc51784 from Set 304 awaiting its fate. Railcar suggests this vehicle was damaged in a derailment in 1978 after a road vehicle struck a rail over bridge at Oyne (between Inverurie and Insch). Photo circa Spring 1986. alicia hartman.
Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works and Class 120 DMBF Sc51784. The vehicle is in all blue, the passenger door has a '1' for First Class and the yellow cantrail stripe has faded. Oval buffers at this end but 'cut' buffers at the cab end. It seems that the engines and most of the underframe equipment has been removed. This seems to be one of the ScR vehicles with the extended brake van, converted from a DMBC - see elsewhere on Railcar. The building with the roller shutter may have been for asbestos removal and perhaps the vehicle is awaiting stripping prior to scrapping? Photo circa Spring 1986. alicia hartman.
