A Class 120 DMU in Leeds station in November 1985. I am not aware of the Eastern Region ever having had an allocation of Class 120 vehicles, and it is likely this Midland region 2-car unit will have worked in from Derby / Nottingham and is waiting to return there. The class was common at other Eastern region destinations such as Lincoln and Skegness, with inter-regional Provincial services to / from the Midlands, often extending as far as Crewe. They were typically allocated to Etches Park (DY) depot, Derby. Class 114 units were to be found on similar routes, more especially in Eastern counties. Both Classes were largely ousted from these duties from 1986 with the introduction of Class 150/1 Sprinters, with a number of vehicles displaced to Parcels work before final withdrawal.
