Back in the days of decent trains and station staff, a diagram took these wonderful Trans-Pennine units from Hull to Beverley and back meaning I got to travel to and from work in style. E52094 brings up the rear of the 16:41 Hull - Beverley on 3rd November 1978. Fred the Station Attendant who worked there for many years looks on to make sure I'm not up to no good! Syd Young.
Set 714 at Doncaster on 3/12/78. E52102 has lost the gangway cover, and the inner door has been made unopenable. The obsolete headcode box has effectively turned into marker lights. A 114 can be seen on the left and Met-Camm on the right. Malcolm Clements.

About to pass Torside level crossing and box, a Hull Botanic Gardens (BG) based Swindon built class 124/123 hybrid dmu passes by with a Manchester Piccadilly-Hull Paragon service, heading towards Sheffield at 10.55 in dismal weather conditions on the freight only Woodhead route, on a Sunday diversion away from the Hope Valley route. 25th January 1981. A Class 123 Swindon Inter-City set arrives at Hull Paragon with a service from Manchester Piccadilly on 29th May 1978. E52099, complete with lamp and end doors brings up the rear. Also in this view are a Cravens Class 105 2-car set waiting to travel up the Scarborough line, a Metro-Cammell Class 101 unit and a Class 124 Trans-Pennine set. On the right, 03073 with it's match truck ticks over in the parcels sidings. Syd Young.

One of the Swindon built Class 123 Inter-City DMUs is seen departing Doncaster for Manchester Piccadilly, c.1981. They joined Class 124 DMUs on services such as this from the late 1970s, working until mass withdrawal of both classes in May 1984, replaced by Class 31/4s. Graeme Phillips Collection.
