A rare line for a Trans-Pennine unit, it's on the Ruabon - Barmouth (part of which is now the Llangollen Railway). The set was on a Halifax-Towyn excursion on 9-6-63 and the picture was taken at Llanuwchlyn. The photographer was a signalman at Bala. John Roberts.
The 25th of September 1963 and major rebuilding is going on at Leeds City South station, the trains are still running amidst the work and demolition. In view we have a Trans Pennine Class 124 DMU, the headcode blinds have been reversed - 47M1 rather than 1M74?, and the preserved K4 3442 The Great Marquess running light with it's bell attached.
