Replacing the booked loco hauled 15.35 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill, Class 117 DMU sets L401 (presumably 51333 + 59485 + 51375) and L405 (presumably 51381 + 59491 + 51340) approach 'Metal Box' bridge, Worcester, about 18.15 on Sunday the 20th September 1992. I recall this was the only Sunday I saw DMUs replace a class 478xx on this service! Dave Gommersall.
Still looking in good condition, DMU set T054 (53267 + 53818) passes Washwood Heath about 13.30 on the 16th September 1992 working from Birmingham New Street to Lincoln. Dave Gommersall.
DMU sets T409 (53894 and presumably 59367 + 59600 + 51860) and T309 arrive at Derby Station at 09.18 on Bank Holiday Saturday, the 29th August 1992. Working from Burton On Trent to Skegness, the units will reverse here and call at Nottingham on the way to the seaside resort. Dave Gommersall.

A selfie? Shirley not... The picture needed a figure, there was nobody else so, set the Mamiya at 4 seconds @ f8, wind the self timer and run, sit and try and look natural. The picture was taken at Birmingham Moor Street station during the wet evening of 15/12/1986, the 116 (TS524, presumably 53112 closest) will work the 20.40 service to Shirley. To the left is the old yard of Moor Street Goods, in use as a car park, today the view is dominated by the horrible Selfridge building. Geoff Dowling.
This is Oldbury Station on the old LNWR line to Wolverhampton, today the modernised station is called Sandwell & Dudley. In this somewhat depressing scene from 1966 the canopy has been crudely hacked off to allow for electrification leaving the passenger no weather protection as they stood outside the run down wooded buildings. On the 2nd June 1962 Peter was a passenger on an SLS railtour which was just rolling into Wednesbury Town station, he took this from the train window. The DMU is a Park Royal (later known as a Class 103) and it is heading for Walsall. Peter had ex-LNWR G1 48930 at the head of his train, standing in the middle road is 8F 48726. The Class 114 that is working the 13.38 New Mills to Sheffield produces a smear of exhaust as it accelerates away from New Mills Central. The train will soon be in the deep snow that coated the Hope Valley on this day, 28/01/1984. Geoff Dowling.
