In the sidings at Doncaster on 7 April 1973 can be seen a Class 100 DTC with the cab removed, probably 56098 which was withdrawn the previous month and had been noted in Doncaster with severe cab damage. Beside it is another Gloucester-built vehicle, LMR Class 128 DMPV M55987, withdrawn in July 1971. Mr Deltic.

A small part of an official image (ScR Negative 1972/3218) which showed trackwork in progress at Millerhill on 10/11/72. In comparison with the image taken almost a month earlier (https://railcar.co.uk/images/17256) the Claytons have gone but there seems to be no change in the rows of Swindon Inter-City vehicles, and the Gloucester set is still there in the third row. British Rail.
A small part of an official image (ScR Negative 1972/2814) which showed trackwork in progress at Millerhill on 19/10/72. In this small part of the image, behind the stack of track panels, are rows of stored Swindon 79xxx series Inter-City vehicles. There is also a row of Clayton locos on the left. The brake vans suggests the DMU vehicle were loco hauled to the yard. In the second row from the Claytons there are at least eight buffet cars together at this end (identifiable by the large covers over the kitchen ventilator fans). The third row contains just two Swindon vehicles but there is also a Gloucester unit behind. British Rail.
Derby Suburban Set 387 approaches Kilmaurs station from the south on a Kilmarnock - Glasgow working. The section from Kilmarnock to Barrhead was singled circa 1973/4 (save for a passing loop at Lugton) and the former double track formation is evident here. Kilmaurs was closed in 1966 but the station had re-opened that day under the auspices of Strathclyde PTE. Frequencies were subsequently increased to half hourly many years later in 2009 with the construction of a 5.5 mile dynamic loop (further north) between Lugton and Stewarton. Saturday 12 May 1984. alicia hartman.
Derby Suburban Set 387 brakes for Kilmaurs station on a northbound service to Glasgow Central. The station had reopened that day and was served by Glasgow - Kilmarnock local DMU services. Auchinleck station also re-opened the same day, generally served by Glasgow - Kilmarnock - Carlisle loco hauled services. Thus a trip between the two new stations at that time required a change at Kilmarnock. The new platform visible in the distance seems to be on the former Glasgow bound formation. Note the old goods shed to the right. Saturday 12 May 1984. alicia hartman.
Instamatic Interludes. Class 126 at Girvan waiting for the off. There’s time for the signalman to chat to the driver before the 08:35 Glasgow Central to Stranraer Harbour heads south, facing a stiff climb to the summit (and tunnel) at Pinmore, thence the intermediate station at Barrhill. There always seemed to be a yellow track machine stabled in the siding in the distance. The line was double track as far south as Girvan but by that time it had been singled from Belmont Crossing (Ayr) with an intermediate passing loop at Kilkerran. The red signs at the foot of the signals proclaimed ‘Token Working’ with Girvan presumably being the limit of ‘Tokenless Block Working’ from Kilkerran. Note the car just peeping out next to the ‘box, coincidentally, the same colour as the signalman’s jumper … and what would today’s H&S brigade think of the footware? Well, it is summer! Thursday 05 July 1979. alicia hartman.
